This is an exceptionally artful Crow Native American Indian beaded sheath and trade knife dating to the fourth quarter of the 19th Century. The sheath is constructed of thick, dark brown harness saddle trade leather remnants with beautifully beaded traditional geometric Crow designs all in old glass trade seed beads of colors of chalk white, Cheyenne pink, blue, and red. The geometric pattern has a zig zag pattern with open triangular sections and old brass trade tacks, totaling four. The front also shows Indian tanned hide ties/ fringe, along with a red trade cloth ribbon. The back of the sheath shows the same Indian tanned hide belt tie. The trade knife shows a typical skinning-like blade with hardwood, likely walnut, and a nice attractive pewter inlay. Overall, the knife measures 10 ½ inches long. Provenance: From the ex-collection of Dale Harrison of Ohio. The sheath measures overall 12 inches long by 4 inches wide.
