Offered in this sale are two miniature beaded items for the daughter of Crow Chief John Grey Bull from circa 1915-1930. These miniature beaded pieces were made for and are from Dolly Grey Bull and show a fully beaded papoose and cradle board (two pieces in total). The first piece shows a cradle board (cradleboard) with Indian tanned hide construction being fully covered in glass trade seed beads in a geometric pattern of colors of corn yellow, sky padre blue, royal, and red, the piece shows a double strand strap of beads and fringe at the top with rear backing of muslin trade clothe. The second piece shows an Indian tanned hide, heavy muslin and calico trade clothe construction with the top being completely covered in glass trade seed beads in a geometric pattern with background of sky padre blue with cross symbols in corn yellow, cobalt, chalk white, lavender, greasy yellow, black, and red. Provenance: From a historic Eastern Montana American Indian Collection, where the piece was found to be an authentic original, one of the finest collections of American Indian weaponry and antiquities in Montana.
