The lot features an excellent breechclout or loincloth from the Crow Native American Indians and dating to the early 1900’s from Max Big Man. Max Big Man was a prominent member of the Crow Absorkee Apsaalooka during the 1800’s to early 1900’s. The piece shows a pink calico trade clothe with white trade clothe backing showing a fantastic fully glass trade and faceted beaded floral design with fancy disc edge and bottom row of Dentalium shells. The beadwork appears to be in very good condition with little to no bead loss a using all early beads of greasy amber, iridescent, blue, red faceted and more. Dentalium shells are the number one wampum and considered the finest adornment for any woman’s dress or clothing. This piece shows good condition and measures 20”L by 15.5”L.
