This is a fantastic set of hide, floral beaded moccasins from the Crow Native American Indians of Montana, dating to the 19th Century. This circa 1890-1900 set shows Indian tanned Buffalo Bison hide with hard soles and beadwork in all early period correct, glass trade petit seed beads, showing a fine floral rose pattern. The beadwork shows colors of chalk white, cobalt, medium green, greasy green, lilac, and red. The moccasins have a sinew sewn construction with old Indian repaired soles. One sole shows harness saddle leather sewn to the base. The other shows the original hard sole repaired with sewn, trade cotton thread. Both bases have a nice, worn foot patina. Provenance: From a historic Eastern Montana American Indian Collection, where the piece was found to be an authentic original, one of the finest collections of American Indian weaponry and antiquities in Montana. Each measures 10”L by 4.25”W by 3”H.
