This is an exquisitely beaded Crow Indian Elder Doll from Montana dating to the late 20th Century. The doll exhibits Indian tanned hide with Great American Bison Buffalo hair showing a wool Crow Elder hat, floral calico shirt, full front and back beaded vest, real teeth and heishi shell necklace, brass pipe tomahawk with wooden haft and beaded and hair drop, drum with parfleche rawhide top and bottom and wooden construction, beaded dark blue or black wool stroud leggings with beadwork and beaded moccasins. The detail is wonderfully fine and the inclusion of the large pipe tomahawk in brass is truly amazing. Provenance: From a large collection of Native American Antiquities in Billings, Montana where it was found to be an authentic Crow example. Measures overall 12”H by 5.5”W by 4”D.
