The lot features a porcupine quilled hide knife sheath and old trade knife attributed to the Crow Native American Indians of Colorado, dating to the 19th Century. The example shows a brain Indian tanned Buffalo Bison hide with beautiful geometric sewn porcupine quilled pattern in natural colors of red, yellow, and cream. This is a nice 19th century piece with true stylings of the Indian Wars period. It is paired with a nice skinning knife with a walnut handle, copper rivets, and brass trade tack adornment. The top of the sheath shows a braided hide belt strap still attached, thought to be original. The sheath measures 9 inches long without the strap and 2.75 inches wide paired with a knife that is 10.5 inches in length.
