Featured in this lot are two Crow, hair pipe bead breastplates circa 20th century. The first breastplate appears to be a child's breastplate and shows seventeen rows of resin hair pipe beads showing a milky white color and silver looking beads. In the center is a beautiful abalone gorget, a type of plant-eating marine snail, secured by tanned hide strips. Strips of hide leather hold the breastplate together while more strips hang off the sides acting as decoration. The second piece is larger and is a woman's breastplate. It shows longer and shorter resin hair pipe beads showing a milky white color. In between the hair pipe beads are brown and light blue colored beads. Both breastplates show good condition overall with wear present to both but no signs of major damage or wear is noted. The child's breastplate measures 9 1/2" L x 5 5/8" W, while the larger woman's breastplate measures 30 1/4" L x 2" W. They have a collective weight of 10 ounces.
