Offered in this lot is a collection of five booklets about Custer Battlefield (battle at the Little Big Horn), published from 1905 to 1969. The first booklet is "The Teepee Book", the official publication of the fiftieth anniversary of the Custer Battle 1876-1926. This is a collection of letters and stories about the battle and the people involved. The next booklet is David Barry's Indian notes on "The Custer Battle" 1949. An excerpt from the booklet and statement by Usher Burdick says, "There are some matters which will be of great interest to students of western history, and for that reason I am presenting these notes with the hope that it will add something to what we already know about an affair where there were no white survivors.” The third and fourth booklets are "Entrenchment Trail"; these guide books speak to places on the battlefield of note and were published by Custer Battlefield National Monument Crow Agency, Montana. The last booklet is a December 1905 copy of “The Philistine” that has a story about the author’s journey through the battlefield. It is interesting to note that the name was not changed from "Custer's Battle Field" to “Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument" until 1991, showing the many years it took to acknowledge the Native Americans side of history. These booklets range in size from 9" X 6" to 6" X 41/2" and are in very good condition for their age.
