Featured in this lot is this NOS book titled "Custer in Photographs" by Mark Katz with framed photograph cutouts from the original authors proof and photograph postcards. There are a total of four framed author proof cutout photographs in this collection showing opulent gold gilt and carved frames. The first is of General Custer sitting next to an end table with his cavalry helmet and saber on display and uniform looking preened and pressed. The next is a still photograph from Mark Katz book of Elizabeth and General Custer mounted in the saddle standing with their horses muzzle to muzzle in an open field. The third is a famous D.F. Barry photograph cutout from "Custer in Photographs" of his men posing for Barry at the steps of his residence. The fourth framed cutout photograph is a photograph of General Custer and his officers sitting around a table in their cavalry uniforms posing for the photograph looking regal. There are two framed displays for three photograph postcards in this collection. the first is of First LT. Edward S. Godfrey (1843-1932) who began his military career with the 7th Cavalry in 1867, fought with Custer and Benteen during the Black Kettle-Washita Campaign of 1868 and participated in the Yellowstone and Black Hills Expeditions of 1873-74; the photograph on the postcard is taken from an original D.F. Barry photograph of LT. Godfrey. The second framed display houses two photograph postcards; the first being a photograph post card of an original photograph by Matthew Brady & Co. of then Lieutenant Colonel Custer considered "The Boy General" looking regal in his uniform, the second is a photograph postcard of the original photograph by O.S. Goff of Captain Thomas W. Custer who was a recipient of two Congressional Medal of Honor during the Civil War and Commander of Company C at the famed "Last Stand", Thomas fell on Custer Ridge along with his brother, George, at the Battle of Little Bighorn. The book present is still in its wrapping and is titled, Custer in Photographs by D.
