Featured in this lot is a CVL Co. Charles Swift & Sierra Bonita Ranch Brands. The first brand features a double shaft set up with an open rocker facing up with the flat iron underneath. The iron comes complete with a hand written note identifying the brand placement and some correspondence from brand collector John Kleinschmidt and other collectors including John P Hale where they write about their missions to preserve both western culture and brand efficacy. The condition of this collection of cattle brands is preserved with some oxidation to the two branding irons and some bends to the shafts, but otherwise they show a preserved condition. The measurements of these brands are 34 1/4" x 3 1/8" x 1 1/2" and 43" x 5". The collective weight of these branding irons is 4lb 14oz. The brands come complete with a museum or collector's tag that reads as follows: 1396-87 - O'Dell. The second branding irons are three branding irons in this collection that make up the 'H' brand with a rocker on the right side. The condition of this collection of branding irons is preserved with some oxidation consistent with the age of the irons but otherwise shows a preserved condition.
