Featured in this lot is a special registered edition, fine pewter sculpture titled, "Sacred Ground Reclaimed" by sculptor Don Polland made in 1993. The sculpture depicts a Native American warrior riding on horseback through the gates of Fort Phil Kearny. He is holding his weapon above his head as he tries to tear down the hanging wood sign that reads "Fort Phil Kearny". Half of the broken gate lies on the ground as the horse tramples over it. On the back of the sculpture you will find the sculptor's signature and copy right date reading, "© Polland '93". The front of the piece is numbered "283" showing it is part of the special edition. On top of the solid wood base, it is signed by the sculptor again reading, "Polland '96". The bottom the of the base features the title, the sculptors signature, the copy right date "1993", that it is a special registered edition, and the presenter, "Chilmark Fine Pewter U.S.A.". This amazing sculpture shows great attention to detail and fine craftsmanship. Overall it is in good condition with no signs of damage. It measures 8 1/2" L x 6 1/2" W x 9 1/2" H.
