Featured in this lot is this ceremonial mask from the Dan people of Liberia, circa 1900 - 1930's. The mask shows a double sided tear drop design with naturally dyed and hand carved ceremonial mask consistent with those seen as examples of from the Dan people. The Dan are a Mande ethnic group from northwestern Ivory Coast and neighboring Liberia. The condition of this mask is good, with some wear to the front of the mask consistent with age. The measurements of this ceremonial mask are 20 1/2" x 7 3/4".
