Presented in this lot is a pair of Vintage Dents English made Gauntlet style Fur Mitten Gloves With Fingers. Design is similar to stage coach driver gloves of the 19th and early 20th century. Dents was established in Worcester England in 1777 as a manufacturer of fine leather gloves by John Dent. It is possibly Britain's oldest existing fashion manufacturer. Dent's sons, John and William, helped the company expand throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. In 1845, mechanical sewing was introduced to the company to assist craftspeople. annual production quadrupled to over 12 million pairs in 1884 and Dents became the premier glove producer in the world. Dents is also known for historically providing leather gloves to the British royal family. In the fashion world, Dents Gloves are the premium and highly sought after. Dents label inside left mitten features its name above an eye-shaped oval with the letter "D" inside, D. B. M. Worcester Make underneath the oval. These gauntlet style fur mittens are in good overall condition, the felt liners, fur and leather exteriors are in good overall condition, original snaps exhibit patina and some oxidation, leather has rich patina. Leather cuff straps are intact. The hide edging on the right mitten cuff exhibits deterioration, some stitching has come loose from both hands at outside seams between fur uppers and leather. No other obvious marring noted. Size appears to be Men's Medium or Large, cuffs measure 9"W, mittens are 16.5"L.
