Featured in this lot is a Disney World Frontierland animatronic Fess Parker, circa 1970s. The animatronic shows a wonderfully and professionally crafted construction with a baby Fess Parker in a high chair with his raccoon hat. The piece shows a motor behind the animatronic and a cord attached. The jacket Fess Parker is wearing reads as follows: Official Walt Disney - Davy Crockett - Fess Parker; and the hat is marked 'Davy Crockett." Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes debuted in Frontierland on opening day at Walt Disney World in 1971. The 35-foot long canoes travelled along the same path as other watercraft on the Rivers of America, like the long-gone Mike Fink River Keel Boats from the Disney television show about Crockett. That trip included a glimpse of Wilson’s Cave Inn that was also inspired by Disney’s Davy Crockett and the River Pirates (1955). Each canoe required two cast members, making the attraction expensive to operate in relation to its capacity, so it closed in 1994. The condition of this animatronic doll shows some damage to the doll with wear to the face and to the hands holding the cup and to the motor with the power cord showing damage to the plug. The measurements of this animatronic are 45" x 17 1/2" x 16 1/4".*
