Featured in this lot is a limited edition pewter sculpture by sculptor Don Polland titled "Calf Roper". This piece is one of a series of seven in the ‘Seven Events of Rodeo’ from 1978. The piece features a roped calf and a rider dismounting his horse. The event was derived from working ranches wherein calves were caught and restrained for branding and medical treatment. The goal of the rodeo event is ultimately speed, however, participants must throw their lariats around the calf's neck while riding at a breakneck pace. The piece has the titled "Calf Roper" and is numbered "260/2500" on the fron of the sculpture. The sculptor's signature is on the backside reading "1978 Polland". On the bottom of the wood base it shows the title, the sculptor's signature, that it is a limited edition out of 2,500, and the presenter "Chilmark Fine Pewter USA". The top of the wood base is signed "Don Polland 11-15-85". Overall this piece is in good condition with no signs of damage. It measures 13 1/4" L x 5 1/4" W x 5" H.
