Featured in this lot is this Don Ricardo punchy drop shank aluminum spur pair circa 1940's. This pair of spurs is wonderfully and professionally crafted aluminum construction that shows a boot heel rim and a solidly constructed single piece spur design that features a drop shank design with a squared nine tine rowel at the end of the drop shank. The spurs feature a 'Ricardo' signature on the frame of the spurs in script lettering. The Ricardo Metal Manufacturers company started making spurs in the 1930s in Denver, Colorado and then Victoria, Texas. They are now considered to be one of the finest makers of Cowboy Spurs and their punchy spurs are highly collectible. The condition of this pair of spurs is good with a slight patina adorning the frame and drop shank of the spurs but otherwise is in good overall condition. The overall measurements of this pair of spurs are 2 1/4" x 4 1/4" x 8 3/4".
