Featured in this lot is this double hondo dual style of braided rawhide colt starting riata, circa 1890-1910. The riata shows excellent craftsmanship, with a two separate styles of braiding to the hand braided rawhide construction and a four plait braided round core section with an approximate length of 40'. The second section consists of an 8 plait square braided rawhide construction with approximately 40' in length. Both hondos consist of leather quick release mechanisms and show a really sharp patina from use and age. The condition of this riata is good for its age, with heavy patina adorning the round braided side. The measurement of this rope is approximately 80' in length.
