Presented in this lot are Vintage Dutton Blackened Steel Calf Roper Spurs and Leathers. Dutton spurs are high-quality, handmade western riding equipment crafted by the Dutton Bits and Spurs company in New Mexico. Known for their durability and craftsmanship, these spurs are designed for specific western disciplines including roping, cutting, and general ranch work. Typically hand-forged, blackened steel versions are designed to develop a natural "rusted" patina over time. Calf roper spurs are specialized Western spurs designed for precise, subtle communication with performance horses during high-speed roping, featuring shorter shanks (often 1" to 2.5") and mild, smooth rowels to avoid over-correcting. These spurs are designed to be used with a simple heel roll, allowing riders to communicate with the horse’s ribcage without lifting their leg. The spurs feature a wonderfully and professionally crafted blackened stainless steel construction that feature chap guards, short shanks and mild smooth rowels, "Dutton" is stamped on the outside of the heel bands. Leathers are in good supple condition featuring a stamped lattice basketweave design. The condition of this pair of spurs is well preserved with some marking and patina adorning the stainless steel and wear to the spur straps but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of these spurs and leathers is 4"W x 7"L x 3.25"H. Collective weight is 1lb.
