Included in this lot is a six gallon red wing glazed crock originating from the early 20th century. Red Wing Union Stoneware, now Red Wing Pottery, refers to American stoneware, pottery, or dinnerware items made by a company that was initially set up in Red Wing, Minnesota in 1861 by German immigrant, John Paul. The name was changed several times until the company finally settled on Red Wing Potteries, Inc. in 1936. The pottery factory that started in 1861 continues to the present day under the names of Red Wing Pottery and Red Wing Stoneware. The crock is marked across the front, reading "6 Union Stoneware Co. Red Wing, Minn". The piece shows a glazed exterior with a lip and two carry handles on the sides. The crock shows good condition overall, with some light wear due to age. The crock measures 14 3/4" tall by 16" wide with an internal diameter of 10 3/4".
