For your consideration is this beautiful hand painted wood, oval mirror taken from the S.S. Harry Coulby, a Great Lakes Freighter, from the early 20th century. The first SS Harry Coulby, built in 1906 by the Detroit Shipbuilding Company in Wyandotte, Michigan, was a steel-hulled Great Lakes bulk freighter named after prominent shipping executive Harry Coulby. Measuring 569 feet long, she was one of the larger freighters of her time, designed to transport iron ore, coal, and grain across the Great Lakes. Originally operated by the L.C. Smith Transit Company, she served as a key cargo vessel during the early 20th century. This mirror shows a wood construction in an oval shape, showing hand painted flowers and leaves throughout the entirety of the border. They show colors of yellow and orange while the leaves show a dark green color. The back is unmarked showing no company or makers mark. The mirror shows good condition overall with little wear present and no signs of damage noted. The mirror section measures 31 1/2" L x 21 1/4" W, while the entire mirror measures 24 3/8" L x 24 5/8" W x 1" D. I weighs 15 pounds and 2 ounces.
