Featured in this lot is an early mounted Indian Buddhist, Buddha stone head circa 10th - 11th century. The Buddha bust features a wonderfully and professionally crafted stone and wooden construction that shows the likeness of Buddha and is mounted on a pole and then on a wooden block. The stone bust is believed to be from the 10th to 11th century due to the similar stone carving pattern from the time. The condition of this mounted stone head is well-preserved with some discoloration to the stone but otherwise shows a well-preserved condition. The measurements of this stone head are 12" x 5 1/4" x 5". The collective weight of this stone head is 7lb 14oz.*
