This lot features a Navajo Gallup Throw. It shows a great geometric pattern and color. It is in good condition for its age, c. mid-century. The Gallup Throws made with hand spun yarn are difficult to find today. Even through the early 1980’s there were quite a few weavers that made them, but they still, even with the time saving use of cotton warp, take quite a while to make. Today, no weaver is going to sit at a loom and weave a rug like this for what the public will pay. This is one small part of Navajo weaving that is disappearing. It measures 18" x 34.5"
