For sale in this lot is a Navajo Native American Indian horse headstall, originating from the late portion of the 19th century. The headstall is crafted of uncleaned leather, and boasts gorgeous silver and copper fixtures. The cheek pieces are comprised of hand tooled silver conchos, with silver pull tabs and slides just underneath. Additionally, the bridle has a large decorative tooled silver bow attached to the browband, and silver accoutrements covering the joints of the headstall. The ring bit is crafted of wrought iron, and has a copper slobber bar, and an ornate copper drop which would dangle in front of the horses mouth. Overall, the headstall shows good condition, especially for age - The leather is soft, and the silver and copper show a warm patina indicative of age. The headstall measures approximately 29 1/2" long from the top of the headstall, to the bottom of the copper drop, and 9" wide.
