For your consideration is this early US, August Buermann spurs, c. 1875. The spurs are marked "U.S. W.L." and are attributed to August Buermann. August Buermann was born in Sattenhausen, Germany on August 4, 1842. He apprenticed as a locksmith in Germany and arrived in New York in August of 1864. A few weeks later, he went into the Army as a substitute for someone who came into the lock smithing company where he was working, looking for a volunteer. August Buermann Mfg. Co. began making spurs for both the civilian and military markets. The condition of this pair of spurs is good, with wear and patina consistent with the age of the spurs. The measurements of the spurs are 5 1/4" x 4 1/2" x 5/8".
