Featured in this lot is this East African Maasai Seme short sword, circa early 1900's. The sword shows traditional design for swords of this type, displaying a distinctive leaf-shaped blade and a relatively rounded point. Scabbards are generally made of wood covered with rawhide and are dyed red. The pommel is wrapped and sewn with strips of rawhide and shows a tip at the end. The condition of this short sword is good, with a slight patina adorning the blade and the leather sheath. The sheath is snug to the blade and in good overall condition. The measurements of this short sword sheath are 22" x 2 1/2", with the blade measuring 15 1/2" x 2 1/8".
