Featured in this lot is a gorgeous folding safari/directors chair by the renowned Edward H. Bohlin, based out of Hollywood, California. Edward Bohlin and his carefully selected team of leather, and silversmiths, were known to craft the world’s finest saddles, and leather tack. Ed was born in Sweden in 1895 and ran away towards America at the young age of 15. Ed had dreams of Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West in his head, and when he arrived state side, got a job working cattle drives in Montana, later to open his first saddle shop in Cody, Wyoming. Ed would often stand in front of his shop, performing rope tricks to entice cliental. Bohlin met a man named Tom Mix, while performing at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood - Mix convinced Ed to stay in Hollywood to produce his fine saddles, eventually to serve patrons such as Mae West, Hopalong Cassidy, Monte Hale, Lyndon Johnson, and Ronald Reagan. Under Ed's watchful eye, "The Edward H. Bohlin Company" operated from the early 1920's, through the 1980's, now operating under different ownership. This one piece folding chair opens and closes quick and easy and has a leather strap with a metal button to securely close it. The seat and back are made of canvas, with leather accents on the canvas around the wood, giving the chair a clean contrast of colors. On the back canvas piece it is marked with a leather badge reading "Edward H. Bohlin - Saddle Makers silversmiths - Hollywood, California - since 1920" and also shows a Texas longhorn. The birch wood is sturdy and in good condition with no rotting or cracks and all fittings and screws are securely in place. Included is a matching canvas and leather satchel that hooks beneath the seat via metal hooks and hangs just above the ground. The satchel is mostly canvas with an adjustable leather strap and leather edges with the leather badge marked in the center reading "Edward H. Bohlin - Saddle Makers silversmiths - Hollywood, California - since 1920" and also shows a Texas longhorn. Overall the piece is in very good condition with no signs of damage or wear. The chair measures 13 1/2" L x 16" W x 29 1/2" H. The satchel measures 10" L x 11" W.
