Featured in this lot is this photogravure on Japan vellum called "Sia Street Scene," circa 1925 by American photographer Edward Sherriff Curtis born in 1868 and died in 1952. The artwork features a wonderfully and professionally crafted photogravure on Japan vellum construction that features a Tiwa woman with a pottery vessel on her head and standing in the street with another woman sitting on the ground in the background. The photogravure is marked on the bottom border: "Sia Street Scene" - From Copyright Photograph 1925 by E.S. Curtis - Photogravure Suffolk Eng. Co. Cambridge, Mass. - Plate 562 (in the upper left hand corner). Edward Sheriff Curtis was an American photographer and ethnologist whose work focused on the American West and on Native American People's. Provenance: from the Ex Morse collection, Arizona Ms. Morse purchased this in the 1990's. There is a Certificate of Authenticity from Mark Sublette and the purchase price shown on the certificate is $1,125. The condition of this photogravure is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this framed photogravure is 18 3/4" x 22 3/4" and the visible art measures 11 1/4" x 15 1/2".
