Available in this lot is a framed paper, titled "Eley's Patent Wire Cartridges", originating from the early 1800's. Eley Brothers is a British ammunition manufacturing company that was founded in the 1820's by Charles and William Eley. The brothers purchased the patent right to the wire cartridge in 1828. The company is currently known for its accurate .22 caliber ammo. This piece shows information on the wire cartridges with information on seven kinds of breech loading cartridges. The piece shows an example of the cartridge on the left side. The piece is set into a custom frame with a tan border around the paper. It shows good condition overall, with some light wear across the paper and frame. The frame measures 14 1/2" tall by 12 1/4" wide, with the paper measuring 5 1/2" wide by 8 1/2" tall.
