This is an original Elijah Naranjo Smith (Santa Clara, b. 1979) Sgraffito Pottery seed pot dating to circa 2006 from the Sundog Bruce VanLandingham collection. The piece shows classic sgraffito art design, the art of incise carving, showing a fish or whale at the center in brown on brown with red triangles on its back having a wonderful geometric pattern below. The bottom is hand signed, “Elijah Naranjo Smith ‘06’.” Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and acquired by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. Good condition. Measures 1.5” diameter.
