Featured in this lot we have an engraved Allen and Thurber side hammer percussion cap rifle chambered in .40 caliber. The rifle was manufactured by Allen and Thurber in the mid 1800's. The rifle displays a heavy 32" long octagonal barrel, walnut stock, engraved trigger guard and frame, metal foregrip and butt plate, and brown finish. The frame and hammer are engraved with vine and floral designs on both sides. The stock shows a dark paint or tar finish with the forgrip showing a warm brown finish. Mechanically the rifle shows a good working action with a heavy trigger and snappy hammer. The exterior shows a warm patina and some pitting and wear across the barrel. No Serial Number. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
