This is an original, rare Evelyn Jephson Cameron (1868-1928) of Terry, Montana photograph of Range Cattle at water Fallon Creek, Montana. E.J. Cameron / Evelyn Cameron (August 26, 1868 – December 26, 1928) was on of Montana’s first noted woman photographer’s, also a diarist of the American West, she documented her life as a pioneer near Terry, Montana in the 1880-1890's. She was known for her photographs chronically the early life of settlers in Eastern Montana, depicting cowboys, sheepherders, weddings, river crossings, freight wagons, ranch work, badlands, eagles, coyotes and wolves. Despite never being a financially successful photographer, Evelyn Cameron artistically documented vignettes of numerous stories from eastern Montana for over thirty years, establishing a photographic legacy that will benefit Montanans in the future. This photo shows a heard of range cattle drinking from Fallon Creek in Montana in the late 1890s to early 1900s. The back of the photo is stamped and marked with pencil reading, "Photo by E.J. Cameron, Terry, Mont. / Range Cattle at water Fallon Creek Mont.". The photo shows good condition overall with slight wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. The visible photo measures 4 1/4" L x 6 5/8" W, while the entire piece measures 7" L x 9" W. It weighs under 6 ounces.
