For your consideration is an exotic trade bead and silver pendant necklace and jade bead earrings. Trade beads were otherwise decorative glass beads used between the 16th and 20th century as a token money to exchange for goods, services. Trade beads were used to purchase African resources by early Europeans. These pieces were used for trade with early Northern Plains, Native American tribes. The necklace is adorned with a variety of exotic trade beads including green chevron slices, transluecent red beads, green jade beads, and colorfully designed cylindrical African trade beads. This piece is strung with four silver metal beads, and a silver cross pendant. The earring set shows a ssimple wire loop with one deep green jade bead. Overall these pieces are in good condition showing some sign of wear on the beads consistent with age and use. The necklace measures 15.5" in strung length, the silver pendant is 3" x 1.75" and the earrings are 1" in diameter.
