Featured in this lot is this superb Mammoth photography from american photographer F. Jay Haynes (1853-1921) and attributed to a photograph consistent with photography from 1880's from the Mammoth plates. The photograph shows a shot of a waterfall draining into a ravine, and features the original Haynes business card and framed with a black stained wooden frame. Frank Jay Haynes, known as F. Jay or the Professor to almost all who knew him, was a professional photographer, publisher, and entrepreneur from Minnesota who played a major role in documenting through photographs the settlement and early history of the great Northwest. The condition of of this framed photograph is good with no obvious signs of damage and in good overall condition. The measurements of this framed photograph are 20 1/4" x 15 1/8" and the visible art measures 9 1/2" x 7 3/8". A hand-tinted example sold for $1,100 in 2007 at Martin Gordon Auctions, LLC.
