Included in this lot is "Farthest North", Volume II by Dr. Fridtjof Nansen. This book is the first American edition and was published in 1897 in New York by Harper & Brother Publishers. This book is "the record of a voyage of exploration of the ship ‘Fram’ 1893-96 and of a fifteen months' sleigh journey by Dr. Nansen and Lieut. Johansen." The book includes 120 full-page and numerous text illustrations, 16 colored plates in facsimile from Dr. Nansen's own sketches, etched portrait, photogravures, and four maps. This book is in good condition, with some wear to the on the edges. The book measures 9 1/2" by 7".
