Offered in this lot is a Vintage "Fighting Indians in the 7th United States Cavalry" by A. F. Mulford, Old Army Press publisher, second edition 1970. This is a firsthand account of Mulford's service as a bugler in the 7th Cavalry shortly after the Battle of Little Bighorn. he book provides a detailed, sometimes humorous look at the "mud and blood" of daily cavalry life. Mulford recounts the pursuit of Chief Joseph and the Nez Perce. Ami Frank Mulford was an American soldier, author, and memoirist whose writings document the often violent and morally complex frontier wars between the U.S. Army and Native American tribes in the late 19th century. For readers interested in military history, the Indian Wars, and the human realities behind historical headlines, this memoir offers a rare window into the U.S. Cavalry's campaign against a people fighting to retain their homeland and dignity. Unlike many accounts written by high-ranking officers, Mulford’s writing captures the perspective of the common private, detailing everything from the quality of food and equipment to his views on General Custer and his Native American opponents. Paper wraps similar to original, with slight soiling. Intact pages exhibit light age tanning. Measures 6"W x 9"L x .5"D, weight is 8oz.
