This is an authentic original photograph of Flathead Native American Indians by Herman Schnitzmeyer in 1916. Herman Schnitzmeyer was a renowned photographer from Polson, Montana who frequently photographed the landscapes and lives of the Western Frontier and Indians. This example, of a very large format, showing a beautiful mountain and river scene with three Flathead Indian women on the left. The piece is signed in the negative, “H Schnitzmeyer (copyright) 1916”. The photograph measures overall 19 ½ inches by 11 ½ inches in an original antique frame that measures 25.5”x18”. This and other photographs were taken from 1915-1916 when the United States Government put the Flathead Indian Reservation up for sale.
