Presented in this lot is a collection of six (6) Flathead Salish Indian Beaded Hair Sticks and Barrettes, circa 1950s - 1980s. Seed beads are arranged in a floral pattern for three of the pieces and geometric patterns on the remaining three pieces. The Flathead are the easternmost of the Plateau Indians. Like other tribes that regularly traversed the Rocky Mountains, they shared many traits with nomadic Plains Indians. The beadwork of these hair adornments is good, seed beads vary in shimmering translucent colours, set on supple leather backs, all hand made. Minimal bead loss noted, stitching appears tight. Wonderful Salish craftsmanship. Largest piece is 2.5"W x 4"L, smallest 1.75" diameter.
