Featured in this lot is this Folk Art milk maid puritan whiligig weathervane circa 19th century. The weathervane features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wooden and iron construction that shows a painted decoration and depicts a scene of a milk maid outside of a chapel churning butter. The piece has a cast iron round base and appears to function properly. When the blade spins the attached gears and wires cause the milk maid to push the butter mold stick up and down. Great display item. The condition of this folk art weathervane is preserved with paint chipping form the weather and the mechanism shows oxidation due to use and exposure to the elements. The measurements of this weathervane is 36 1/4" x 30 1/2". The collective weight of this weathervane is 10lb 4oz.
