For your consideration is this “Forms and Ceremonies to Be Used By Councils of the Degree of Pocahontas, Improved Order of Red Men, adopted by the Great Council of the United States, [Corn Moon, G.S.D 406]”, circa 1897. It is a nicely preserved copy of a very rare handbook of rites and ceremonies to be performed, and how, by the American Indian private society, known as the Degree of Pocahontas. The Degree of Pocahontas is the female counterpart to the Improved Order of Red Men. This copy was issued in 1897, just about 10 years into the Degree of Pocahontas. The condition of this book is good for its age and shows some wear to the outside cover of the book; however, the pages show some browning, consistent with age. The measurements of this book are 7" x 4 3/4".
