Featured in this lot is a Foseco Tercod 30bb metal casting crucible originating from the mid to late 1900's. The crucible is constructed from tercod, which is an improved silicon carbide refractory brick developed for metal casting and refining. Tercod is more conductive for both electric and thermal energy, while also reducing thermal expansion, and is inert to most slag found in metal. Crucibles are designed to heat metal into a liquid for casting and are made out of materials with a far higher melting point than the metal. The face of the crucible displays two white and yellow tags from Foseco. The crucible comes with its original box and packaging. The piece shows good condition and is in near new shape. The crucible measures 12" tall with a top diameter of 9".
