Featured in this lot is this Francisco Goya (b. 1746 - d. 1828) etching called “Otras Leyes Por El Pueblo (Autres lois pour le peuple)”. The total gallery title is, “Francisco José de Goya. Otras Leyes Por El Pueblo (Autres lois pour le peuple) etching on cream laid paper; Francois Liénard, Imp. Paris; Plate” and the etching depicts men shying away from an elephant. Francisco Goya was a Spanish artist widely considered one of the most important painters of the Romantic period. The artist took on a wide array of subject matter, including self-portraiture, fantasy scenes, landscapes, and still lives. He once explained, “Painting, like poetry, selects in the universe whatever she deems most appropriate to her ends.” The condition of this framed etching is good, with no obvious signs of damage to the floral accented frame or to the etching. The measurements of this framed etching are 19" x 24" and the visible art measures 11 1/4" x 16 1/8".
