Presented in this lot is a First Edition of, "Frederic Remington's Own West", edited by Harold McCracken. Frederic Sackrider Remington was an American painter, illustrator, sculptor, and writer who specialized in the genre of Western American Art. His works are known for depicting the Western United States in the last quarter of the 19th century and featuring such images as cowboys, American Indians, and the US Cavalry. "This present book is an anthology of the writtings of Remington, the renowned illustrated with the artist's own drawings. It does not include all that he wrote, but what this editor regards as the best of the vignettes, both fact and fiction, relating to the Old West and its transition into the New. Furthermore, the material has been selected and arranged to form as nearly as it can an autobiographical sequence. What we have here is the nearest approach to an autobiography of this extraordinary Western artist-writer that can ever be assembled." Profusely illustrated, with over one hundred of Remington's famous drawings and provides an exciting record of the Old West as it once was, with tales of cowboys, Indians, and soldiers. This brown cloth bound gold gilt stamped book is in good overall condition, very minimal scuffing to cover edges. Intact pages are very clean with minimal age tanning exhibited. Plastic wrapped dust jacket is in good condition with minimal edge scuffing. No other obvious marring noted. Measures 7.25"W x 10.25"L x 1"D
