For your consideration is this French & Indian War era spontoon spear lance circa 1760-80's. The lance head shows a hand-forged wrought iron construction with correct pattern showing a nice long double bladed spear head showing a median ridge running down the center. These spear heads were primarily called Spontoon or Lance heads and were used during the French and Indian Wars and later traded to the American Indians and used during the Indian Wars. These original sponoon’s were later adapted into use as knives, tomahawk heads and war club heads by the Sioux, Crow, Blackfeet, Comanche, Cheyenne and more. The condition of this of this spearhead is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows a heavy oxidation adorning this blade and shows good display condition. The measurements of this spearhead are 21 1/2" x 1 1/2".
