For your consideration is this Frontier Bowie Fighting knife circa Indian Wars era 1800's with a hilt constructed from European Stag Horn and a large silver cross guard. The blade shows a heavy patina and comes complete with a heavy harness leather sheath finely and expertly constructed to fit the unique shape of the clipped point Bowie knife. The Bowie knife is a pattern of fixed-blade fighting knife created by James Black in the early 19th century for Jim Bowie, who had become famous for his use of a large knife at a duel known as the Sandbar Fight. The condition of this knife is good showing a heavy sturdy blade construction showing a acute clipped point blade. The measurements of this fighting knife are 13" x 3" and the blade measures 8 3/4".
