Features in this lot is this Gabbeh Persian wool pile-woven runner rug. The circulation of Persian Gabbeh rugs from Iran into the Western market is relatively new. These rugs were being woven in Persia in the 1500's but were unheard of until fifty years ago. The rug shows a plush wool construction with various human and deer effigies set throughout the rug. Small beige dots form an unconnected border around the dark brown background of the rug. The effigies are done in colors of blue and the field being beige. The condition of this Gabbeh runner is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this runner or rug is 7.6' x 2.7'.
