The lot features two Mission Oak custom frames featuring two Gary R. Lucy, limited edition prints from the Yellowstone Collection titled, "Evening Sky on the Missouri River" and "Yellowstone In Peril", originally painted in 1992, and printed in limited editions in 2022. Gary R. Lucy is a Missouri artist born in 1948, known for his realistic depictions of wildlife and historical scenes, particularly American inland waterways and the Lewis and Clark Expedition. He began his career in elementary education and wildlife art, winning the Missouri Duck Stamp competition in 1982. In 1985, he shifted focus to historical interpretations, creating a notable seven-year series on the Lewis and Clark expedition, with reproductions reaching over 265 million globally. The first print is titled, "The Yellowstone - Yellowstone in Peril" and shows a steamboat heading into the raging storm in the distance. Lighting is striking and the trees are being blown around. The American flag stands tall on the top of the steamboat. The bottom of the print is signed by the artist in pencil and is numbered 667 / 1250. The second print is titled, " The Yellowstone - Evening Sky on the Missouri River" and shows a steamboat on the Missori River, floating towards the sunset. Prince Maximilian, a passenger aboard the YELLOWSTONE during this voyage west in 1833, wrote in his journal as they headed into the mouth of the Missouri River: the sky was "blood red . . . stupendously beautiful." April 10, 1833. This print is signed by the artist on the bottom in pencil and is numbered 646 / 1250. The prints are double matted and are set in wood frames. They show good condition overall with slight wear present but no signs of damage is noted. The visible art measures 8" L x 12" W, while the entire piece measures 19 1/8" L x 22 3/8" W x 7/8" D. The two framed pieces have a collective weight of 11 pounds and 4 ounces.
