Featured in this lot is a George Lawrence Co. saddle out of Portland, Oregon circa 1880s and the Makers Mark has been identified to be a First Generation Makers Mark. The saddle features a wonderfully and professionally crafted leather and wooden tree construction. The saddle shows a very high seat with expert tooling on the fenders, the skirt and the seat back with aluminum supported wooden monel stirrups. It has a U Shape fork with rounded swells and a rawhide leather wrapped horn. Very desirable with the fender straps semi exposed to the seat and really nice preservation of the leather on this working Great Plains Buckaroo saddle. This George Lawrence saddle is well preserved or a 19th century saddle with some patina to the leather in high traffic areas and the sheep's wool underneath is patchy in places, but otherwise it shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this saddle are 34" x 14 1/4" x 22 1/2" and the seat is 14". The collective weight of this saddle is 22lb 8oz.*
