For your consideration is this hand crafted George Lawrence Company Supreme Model 4A fishing creel made in Portland, Oregon in the 1950s. From 1923 to 1954, the Lawrence Company was a leading manufacturer of Oregon creels in Portland. The George Lawrence Company, founded in 1857 in Portland, Oregon, was known for creating high-quality leather items, such as fishing creels. Their creels, made between 1923 and 1954, are renowned for their superior craftsmanship and design. These creels have finely woven wicker baskets accented by saddle leather components. The leather is frequently tooled or embossed, revealing exquisite designs and exceptional craftsmanship. This creel features a split willow weave and leather construction and an open section in the top for throwing fish in and a handle on the back for easy carrying. Also attached to the creel are leather straps connected with metal rivets. A small strap is in the creel and can be connected to the added leather straps to create a shoulder strap. The buckle is missing on the included strap so it does not form a full shoulder strap. The creel is stamped on the back with the company logo as well as the top of the lid reading, "4A" showing this was a model 4A. The front shows a metal tag reading, "Established 1857 / The George Lawrence Co. / Portland, Oregon". The front buckle can still latch but the leather is slightly stiff and shows cracks. The creel shows good condition overall with some wear and slight damage present to the split willow weave in some areas, but no major signs of damage are noted. It measures 6" L x 15 1/2" W x 9 1/4" H and weighs 2 pounds and 14 ounces.
