For your bidding pleasure are these two African Ghana brass filigree bead necklaces. The first necklace is made of stunning brass Baule spiral tube beads. These beads are hand cast by the masterful artisan of the Baule people of West Africa. Unique Baule beads like this are becoming increasingly difficult to find and are in very limited supply. This necklace has eighteen brass beads separated by forty-four white heart blue glass beads and strung on cotton. The necklace measures 28” around and the beads appear to be in good condition, showing no obvious damage. The next necklace is made of a combination of round Ghana woven beads. The center eighteen beads in this necklace are made with a coil style (much like seen in clay pottery). The next twenty-eight are made with a twisted rope design. Each bead is made individually. The "coil" beads measure approximately 1/2" x 1/2" and the "twisted rope" beads measure slightly smaller at approximately 3/8" x 3/8". These beads are strung on raffia and the necklace measures 26". This necklace appears to be in good to fair condition. This necklace has some beads that are less than perfect, with flaws from the primitive making technique.
