Included in this lot is an early edition of “Gladstone Parnell and The Great Irish Struggle” by T. P. O'Connor and Robert McWade, 1886 Hubbard Brothers publishing. The book is a graphic story of the injustice and oppression inflicted upon Irish tenantry and a history of the gigantic movement throughout Ireland, America, and Great Britain, etc. The book features numerous illustrations throughout the piece. Gladstone was a British statesman, Liberal politician, and former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1880-1885, during which his government, in reaction to crises in Ireland, passed repressive measures but also improved the legal rights of Irish tenant farmers. Gladstone was the only prime minister to have served four terms. The cover of the book displays green cloth, gold embossed cover and spine. The piece displays good condition overall, with some light wear across the piece due to age; the rear cover is coming loose from the spine binding. The book measures 8.5" H x 5.75" W x 1.5" D.
